Governance dilemma solved
It is not ideal to give local teams administrator rights to sites or libraries, as it is likely that changes will be made that break the overall design, good findability and consistency.
Yet, with case files, new cases with their own security and permissions have to be configured frequently. Does the IT team want to have to do this for the whole organisation, or do we give users the rights, and hope SharePoint doesn't go feral?
Smart Folders gives you a win-win: it avoids having to give a local team administrator rights to a site, while at the same time giving them control over who can access, update, create and close case files and content. |
